Zoom Meeting

After her wife gave birth, Lora struggled to find her identity as a new parent and lesbian, non-biological mother. When she learned that the legal system did not fully recognize her parental status as a non-biological parent, she chose to do a “second parent” adoption.

About the event

Please join PFLAG Mt. Horeb on Monday, November 1, 2021  at 6:00 PM (via Zoom) for a discussion with author, Lora Liegel. Lora is author of the book: Second Parent: A Memoir.   Despite a growing number of people who identify as LGBTQ, there are surprisingly few accounts of queer parenthood.  Written by a lesbian, non-biological mother, this story fills the gap with perspective and grace.

Lora lives in Bellingham, Washington with her wife and two children. Her writing has previously appeared in the HuffPost. She has also been featured in The Atlantic, Friendship Files series. Lora is the creator of the Second Parent Project which connects queer, non-biological mothers online at second-parent.com. She holds an MA in Social Science.  Her public email is: thesecondparent@gmail.com.

Lora will speak from 6-7 PM. After a short break, the remaining hour will be used for sharing and support.
